We exist to see Jesus, to know Jesus, to be Jesus, and to share Jesus.
The Glen Methodist Church is situated in Garsfontein in the East of Pretoria near the Menlyn Park business and shopping node. The Church complex is near several schools, hospitals and retirement villages, as well as older, more established suburbs and rapidly growing areas mainly occupied by young families.
The Glen can serve, influence and draw on a mixed populace of families with young children, more established families with teenage/young adult members, the elderly, many working single people and a strong economically active group, be it entrepreneurs, academia and private sector, political and government employees.
The Glen Methodist Church is showing a wonderfully interlaced demographic profile, various cultures and races. The Church is rapidly becoming an increasingly internationally and nationally diverse community with people from the African continent, Europe, Asia, Black and White South Africans who together form a rich mix of cultures and experiences.
The Glen has been home to many families for more than 30 years and always seems to invite and receive her children back, even if they explored the world for a while. It speaks volumes of solidity and permanence in the midst of a busy, changing society.
Having said that, The Glen is aware of keeping in step with changes that are required to bring about accountable stewardship and greater influence; who, to that end, are open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit as given to individuals to serve the body and in prayer, are guided by this same spirit to follow the head of the Church, Jesus Christ, without compromise.
History
Brooklyn Methodist planted our church in the 1970’s.
The Glen started as a small group, meeting in homes until we found a home in the Glen High School.
The Foundation stone was laid on 16 August 1981 by Rev. A.C. Reynhardt.
